Currently there are over 5,000 residents; the vast majority are age 55 or better, living in over 3,100 homes. As each month passes, there is a turnover of a dozen or more homes in the community. Many of the new homeowners are from outside the immediate area and finding new, local sources for products and services ranks high on their lists of “must-have” information.
Financially, this market offers opportunities for every conceivable product and service for current homeowners and for new arrivals to the area. The influx of resources by this demographic is dramatic. These buyers eagerly search out reliable sources for their needs, to develop beneficial relationships with those who communicate directly to them. They then refer their experience to all those within their sphere of influence.
Whether rekindling an old passion or exploring new pursuits, our lifestyle inspires and redefines a new phase of life, full of endless possibilities. Social, recreational, educational, and cultural opportunities, in addition to health and well-bing interests, define these active adults.
The main hub of activity is The Lake House, a 40,000 square-foot building. On three levels there are complete fitness facilities, work-out equipment, pool and hot tub, indoor walking track, and aerobics studio.
The ballroom, craft, media, poker, card, pool & billiard, and multipurpose rooms are available for the over 170 community groups for meetings, hobbies, arts and crafts, games and cards, as well as cooking demonstrations and vendor presentations.
The Lodge is the latest addition to the amenities for SCCL. It offers a flexible space that can be configured to provide small meeting rooms all the way to a full 400+ seat auditorium. It is the site for the frequent events and performances like dances, plays and musicals, musical and comedic entertainers, and movies. The Lodge has a stage and versatile video, sound, and lighting systems.
Separately, there are a Woodworkers Shop, including a stained-glass studio, a dog park, and gardening plots. The Grandparents Park, situated by one of our lakes, has swings and play equipment for the younger grandchildren. Our Water’s Edge Park has more garden plots as well as the softball field, horseshoe pits, pickleball courts, and the disc golf course.
For the outdoor enthusiast: tennis, bocce ball, fishing, kayaking and canoeing from the Riverside Pavilion on the Catawba River, several other pickle ball courts, golf, and the 5-plus miles of walking trails are available.
